Name: Sarah Ellison
Occupation: Interior Stylist and Creative Director
How it all began…
For me it all began when I became the Style Editor of Real living magazine. At RL I got to work with some of the most creative and inspiring talent in Australia. I was also given a lot of creative freedom in my role, something that can be rare in magazines. Over the past 7 years I've gained insight in to so many aspects of the media including styling, photography, publicity, advertising, branding and relationships leaving me with so much opportunity to build my own brand.

Biggest pinch me moment…
Being sent to Milan for the Milan Furniture Fair, its the pinnacle for any Interior/Design lover.
Biggest lesson I’ve learnt along the way…
Be nice and be grateful.
I’m inspired by…
Creative people who push the boundaries in a relatable way.
Biggest piece of advice…
Be a nice person. Talent is part of being successful but building relationships in your industry is a massive part also and to build authentic and long lasting relationships you have to be a decent person. People will want to work with you, will suggest you and will remember you if you’re nice and don’t have attitude.
My career goals for the next 2-5 years are…
Growing my own Interiors brand.
Organised to me means….
Lots of lists and having clean house. I work from home so if the house isn’t tidy my brain feels untidy.

The top 3 ways I organise my life are…
1. Lists, they can turn a freakish day in to a manageable one, each time you cross something out the anxiety drops just a little.
2. Mood boards - Im a visual person so having a big pin board in front of me with ideas and inspiration helps me feel organised and can even help spark ideas when I least expect it.
3. Having a good plan. When it comes to my interior schemes I always put a lot of time in to the planning stage. If you start with a good plan then everything else falls in to place. Going in to a job when the plan is only half way there can be disastrous.

At the moment you’ll find the below on my desk…
A mid century vase full of fine liner pens. A tape measure. An Overrose candle. COFFEE
My workspace style is…
Minimal with a nod to the 70s.
First thing I do when I get to the office is…
Make coffee.
