The Motivating & Thought Provoking Podcasts We're Subscribing To This Summer

This year, I have become addicted to listening to podcasts. I'm not very good at relaxing, and find listening to a podcast during my morning walks or in the evening helps to distract me from my work life stresses and allows me to switch off, but it also motivates and inspires me. I must admit, most of the podcasts are business related, but there's one or 2 that are not!!!
Below are my favourite 7 podcasts I can highlighly recommend you subscribe to this summer!
HOW I BUILT THIS:
The first podcast series I ever subscribed too! If you are a business owner or love to learn how founders / business started out then How I Built This is for you! From Dermalogica, DryBar and Kate Spade, to Instagram, Lonely Planet and AirBnB. This podcast features HUGE businesses and their stories from day one! And trust me, none of their journeys happened overnight.
My favourite episodes: Dermalogica and Patagonia
THE HIGH LOW:
My favourite to listen to on my morning walks when I need to be distracted and entertained! The High Low is a weekly pop culture / news podcast based out of the UK, brought to you by Dolly Alderton & Pandora Sykes (two of my very favourite people!). This podcast is such a mixed bag of goodness - it makes me laugh, it's informative, it's interesting, it's motivating and everything in between.
YOUR CREATIVE START:
The first podcast series I was ever invited to feature on, Your Creative Start is a go-to favourite for hearing the personal stories of different creatives in Australia. Jaharn Giles (a An Organised Life monthly contributor) is the host and interviews the guest on how they got started, the lessons they have learnt along the way, their actionable advice, practical tips and much more. We adore that she features small individuals and small business who are still in the start up to small business phase and she isn't afraid to ask the hard questions. It's a very eye-opening, realistic podcast series that a lot of people can relate.
OFFLINE WITH ALISON RICE:
Hosted by award-winning Australian journalist (and a lady I'm lucky to call a friend) Alison Rice, Offline is a series of honest conversations with the women behind different Instagram accounts. Together, Alison and her guests get real about life on the other side of the filter and explore the often confronting concept of true self.
My favourites episodes: Kelly Muller, Sara Crampton, Eleanor Pendleton
THE GOOP PODCAST:
Gwyneth Paltrow and goop’s Chief Content Officer Elise Loehnen chat with leading thinkers, culture changers, and industry disruptors—from doctors to creatives, CEOs to spiritual healers—about shifting old paradigms and starting new conversations.
Note: Her first ever guest was Opera!
THE TEACHER'S PET:
A podcast not about business! I recently started listening to The Teacher's Pet, by The Australian, which highlights the unsolved murder of Lyn Dawson. It was a podcast recommended to me over and over again and when Chris Dawson recently got charged for murder in Dec 2018, I decided to get up to speed and listen to the untold story via the podcast.
Overview of the story: A star footballer. His school girl lover. A wife who vanishes. Chris and Lyn appear to have the perfect marriage. But when Lyn goes missing, dark secrets are buried. This is no fairytale, but a sordid story of strangely close twin brothers, teenage student lovers, and probable murder.
LADY-LAND:
Another series I have been lucky enough to be featured on, Lady-Land is a podcast hosted by Caitlin, Anna and Maeva. They chat to ambitious, successful and inspiring entrepreneurial women about what it takes to become an overnight success. Huge spoiler alert - the overnight success does not exist in any of the episodes! But it is a thought-provoking and inspiring series I love.
Enjoy, Beck
