This week I'm off back home to New Zealand. I'm not going to lie, I think I have climatised way too much to Sydney winters and will be in for a shock when I land in the -1 temperatures! However, I'm trying to be prepared as possible! Gah!
Packing is something I love (flying not so much). I love having my outfits planned, beauty essentials covered and flight details synced in my brain, diary and phone! I know packing isn't for everyone so... I have created a simple checklist of all the essentials you need to pack when you travel. You can download the free pdf Checklist HERE
Along with the checklist here are a few tips for when you next travel:
Time is key when you travel. Always leave enough room for delays at the airport, they are so unpredictable and there is nothing worse than missing a flight. I also recommend checking in online if possible. Whenever I get through the check-in process quickly I take the time to claim back GST on any new investment purchases of late, discover my next perfume scent in duty free and read my book in peace at the departure gate.
TIP: I am obsessed with the AirNZ App that gives me updates on my flights. Make sure you look on the app store to see if your favourite airline has one too.
2. PREPARATION IS KEY
From outfits, to your carry on luggage - make sure you set aside time to prepare for your trip. Pop a reminder in your diary to do any last minute washing a couple of nights before along with a list of anything you need to buy or remember to pack on the day. For example your toothbrush, perfume, sunglasses, iPhone charger.
TIPS: Hold onto old shoes bags - they come in really handy for storing underwear and delicates
3. COOL COMFORT
When you travel you want to be comfortable. My go to outfit is my black ASOS jeans, a Bec & Bridge singlet, Nike Roshes or Superga Sneaker, a Uniqlo cashmere knit & a coat. Layering is key, if you're like me, I am constantly hot then cold and everything in between. If I get too hot, I take my knit &/or coat off and use it as a pillow or blanket.
4. JET SET BEAUTY BAG
Downsizing your beauty essentials when you travel is always a good idea. I recently discovered the Mecca Cosmetica Jet Set Travel Collection that includes the perfect edit of travel necessities to keep you feeling fab on the go. Housed in a rose gold toiletry bag the set includes: Lip de Luscious SPF 25 Lip Protectant (7ml), Soft Focus Smoothing Primer (15ml), Beauty Sleep Artistry Eye Brightener, To Save Face SPF 30+ (30ml), Clean Slate Remover (35ml) and Clean Slate Face Washing Cloth. I highly recommend this set - their products are my favourite and there is plenty of room to add your foundation, bronzer, mascara, eye makeup and eye brown pencil to the bag.
5. NON NEGOTIABLE'S
When you pack your hand luggage, start with your non negotiable's that you cannot live without (you never know when your luggage might go astray!). For example: laptop, camera, diary, itinerary, beauty bag, medication, jewellery, and an extra change of clothes. After you have these securely in your bag, add your entertainment essentials. For example: headphones, book, notebook and pen.
TIP: Make sure your entertainment essentials are easy to access.
Happy travels xx
