Our Putting Pen To Paper series, features different individuals & showcases what they use their favourite notebook for. It could be for to-do lists, sketching, song writing, illustrations, notes, daily gratitudes & everything in between. This week we went inside the notebook of singer/songwriter Starley.
I’m a performing artist and songwriter from Sydney, Australia
Plain or Lined?
You put Pen to Paper as part of your creative process for One of One, what were some of your inspirations behind this project?
One of One is like a time capsule.. it’s a chapter of my life and recent experiences that I’ve put into song.
& in what ways did you put Pen to Paper during the process?
I’m extremely driven and very hands on in all of the elements from writing my lyrics, creating film clip concepts or writing ideas down for content shoots. Every time I feel my pen hit a piece of paper it make the idea come to life for me. It makes it more tangible.
Where did most of your writing & planning for One of One take place?
It was really a mixture of LA and Sydney that inspired this project. I wrote songs in both cities. But when it comes to the visuals, most of that was done in Sydney. I have an amazing team there that really help me bring my ideas to life!
