Behind the AOL x Bobby Clark Collaboration

Earlier in the year, we reached out to Bobby Clark, one of our absolute favourite artists, to see if she would like to create magic with us. We were over the moon when she said yes.
With a joint love of putting pen to paper, our Founder, Beck Wadworth & Bobby Clark wanted to marry their love of function & form with symmetry & balance through a collection of limited edition monochrome notebooks titled, 'Balance'.
We sat down with Bobby Clark to discuss the collaboration & her love of putting pen to paper.
Have you always had a love for putting pen to paper or has it evolved over time?
Always. My day starts with putting pen to paper, writing lists, noting ideas, planning my day. Even when I was little, I would draw on everything. My mum still has her old phone books with sketches and scribbles of mine in the margins. Digital note taking and calendars don't work for me, unless I write it by hand, it doesn't register. I've always been that way. I would take notes during class at school then re-write them when I got home, neater. There is always a diary and a journal or sketchbook in my bag.
What inspired you to want to collaborate with An Organised Life?
An Organised Life has such a beautiful aesthetic with the focus on the importance of bringing structure and ritual into our day-to-day lives. I've always been a note taker, it's the starting point of my day. I always centre myself at my desk with a to do list or writing in my diary. Their minimalist, beautifully designed notebooks, diaries and planners have always been my favourite.
Where did you draw your inspiration from for the AOL x BC Collection?
I love the simplicity in the design of the AOL notebooks and planners so focused on playing with scale with a minimalist approach. I wanted to create a design that was elegant, modern and balanced.
How do you put pen to paper daily?
I write a to-do list every morning, usually over a cup of coffee, writing a plan for the day. Tasks I want to achieve or just a simple shopping list. Throughout the day, if I see something that sparks an idea, I'll grab my journal and note down ideas, a quick sketch or a few words. I often use my diary as a notebook on days where I haven't written much. I hate wasting paper so try to fill up each diary and treat it like a journal. I never keep all my diaries.
