An Organised Life With... Talisa Sutton from BADLANDS

I couldn't be prouder of my amazing friend Talisa Sutton who is the art director at Badlands Studio & blogger behind Badlands.
Known for her work as a graphic designer, stylist, & influencer all tied into one - we visited Talisa's beautiful apartment / workspace in Potts Point & chatted about her biggest pinch me moments, what she has learnt along the way & how she maintains an organised life.
Name: Talisa Sutton
Occupation: Art Director at Badlands Studio and Blogger at badlands-blog.com
How it all began…
I started my blog back in 2010 while I was still studying graphic design and fine arts. Sharing imagery that inspired me online felt like a very natural extension, and before long I was also featuring more personal posts on my design work and style. Last year, I was able to make the switch from working full time to running my own business. Now I split my time between the blog and my newest venture, a design studio with my husband and fellow art director, Rohan Peterson.
Biggest pinch me moment…
I think those first few weeks of realising I was out on my own were pretty amazing! I went straight to New Zealand fashion week and then LA & NYFW - it was such a whirlwind, definitely a time I’ll never forget.
Biggest lesson I’ve learnt along the way…
Being able to make business decisions dispassionately, trusting yourself and your instinct and not comparing yourself to others.
I’m inspired by…
Art, architecture, design, travel… There is nothing like visiting a new city or seeing an amazing exhibition to get the creative juices flowing.
Biggest pieces of advice…
Back yourself!

Organised to me means…
Having an idea of what my week is looking like, what my priorities are, and having my office neat and tidy.
The top 3 ways I organise my life are…
- Syncing my calendar across my laptop, phone and iPad.
- Keeping a physical diary/notebook I can take to meetings and appointments
- Shared files with my husband using Dropbox and Google Docs
I can’t leave the house without…
Phone, keys, wallet, lip balm, sunglasses.
At the moment you’ll find the below on my desk…
Laptop, wacom graphics tablet, hard drive, Byredo candle & perfume, favourite books, pens, notebook, greenery (currently a little succulent) and a coffee!
My workspace style is…
I would consider it quite minimal, I like things simple and organised with the subtle addition of textures and some artwork to add impact to the space.
First thing I do when I get to the office is…
I work from home, so usually I’ll migrate my coffee cup from the living room to the office and get started checking emails.
