Hello 2018!!! As the New Year arrives, it's the perfect time to sit down and really nut out what you want to achieve and focus on for the year. A lot can happen in 365 days!
I had the pleasure of chatting to 3 successful women including Karen Walker, Maggie Marilyn and Alison Rice about what there New Year's Resolutions are set to be for 2018...
KAREN WALKER / FOUNDER OF KAREN WALKER
My resolution for 2018 is to schedule in more downtime every day. I’ll be using this time to practise my piano so that by the end of the year, while I may not be Glenn Gould, the pieces will at least sound like music.
MAGGIE MARILYN / FOUNDER + DESIGNER OF MAGGIE MARILYN
"My new year resolution is to really stop and smell the roses more, I am so ambitious and thrive off living a fast paced life but I need to remember to be kinder to myself and know that life really is about the journey not necessarily the destination. I adore my friends and family more than anything so I want to take more time to spend with them”.
ALISON RICE / GROUP PUBLISHER AT WHO WHAT WEAR, MY DOMAINE, POPSUGAR AND BYRDIE AUSTRALIA
In 2017 I had a resolution to look inward more, particularly as it related to my role and my skill set. It was at times challenging – as most personal work is – but it was also very rewarding. I focused on two things: understanding what I’m an expert at and then doing more of that; and defining my true self – when you strip away the title and all the amazing things that come along with it, what do I stand for and how do I bring that forward in the way I lead and do business? A bit eye roll for some, but I’m really into that deeper self work.
In 2018 my resolution is to continue to build on that work, but with less focus on me this time around, and more on my team. The prospect of leading a focused, high performance team is super exciting to me right now.
On the personal front, one of my resolutions is to just be at home in Bondi more. I want to feel more relaxed and to stop wearing busy as a badge. My best friend is moving into the area and we have big plans for ocean swims, saunas and BBQs!
